Aerial Lift, Scissor Lift, & Forklift certification
This course is designed for both new and experienced operators. Participants will be properly trained to meet OSHA regulations, reducing the risk for injuries, fatalities, and fines a company may face should the proper OSHA guidelines not be followed.
Who needs this course? All employees that operate or will operate any type of personnel or material handling equipment. OSHA has promulgated the Final Rule for Powered Industrial Truck Operator Training [29 CFR 1910.178(l)], which became effective March 1, 1999. The standard requires operator training and licensing as well as periodic (every 3 years) evaluations of operator performance. OSHA doesn’t have a specific frequency for aerial lift training. Training must be completed initially and when/if an accident occurs, workplace hazards are discovered, or a different type of aerial lift is used. Though OSHA classifies scissor lifts as a mobile scaffolds (not aerial lifts), the safety guidelines are similar. OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1926.454 states that only trained workers should be allowed to use scissor lifts, and employers should make sure workers can demonstrate they can use a scissor lift properly. Employers must provide workers training on hazards, including how to work safely with or near scissor lifts. Refresher training is required if the operator is observed operating the equipment in an unsafe manner, is involved in an accident or near miss, or is assigned a different type of equipment.
