MSHA requires miners to complete annual refresher training to ensure safety procedures remain fresh in their minds. Each miner must undergo a minimum of 8 hours of refresher training at least once every 12 months. This training should cover any changes at the mine that may impact the miner's health or safety, as well as other relevant health and safety subjects. This certification program is available to all workers at the mine, including full-time miners and contractors.
